Barbara I, one of our principle projects, is located at the center of the Motagua River corridor, in aldea El Terrerito; Sansare, Department of El Progreso, on the southwestern side of the Sierra de Las Minas approximately 25 miles (40 km) from the capital, Guatemala city.

The Area of this project is 19.75 km2. The topographic map reference is: El Progreso, 2160-1 (scale 1:50,000) edited by the Instituto Geografico Nacional (IGN).

The geology of the area, in the El Progreso Quadrangle, consists of an old rock complex of Paleozoic metamorphics known as the Chuacus group.  All the rocks in the area derive from a major event along the junction of two plates; the Mesoamerican and North American. Significant gold deposits developed in the late Mesozoic era with faulting are related to the present-day Motagua fault (along the Rio Grande o Motagua where this project is located).
